A FOOT ON THE GROUND
2026
A Foot on the Ground, is due out via Colorfield Records in June 2026. To Sharada, this body of work feels like a “documentation of instinct and a challenge to mentally free herself” of preconceived notions from the past. Recorded over the course of two years at Lucy’s Meat Market in Los Angeles, A Foot on the Ground found Shashidhar playing into new roles and experimenting with tools and instruments she previously did not have access to. Through her work with producer Pete Min, she was often pushed to look at her songwriting through a new lens. In recording the album, she felt that her perfectionism had to take a back seat, realizing there was something of value and an inherent musicality in everything she did, even if it felt momentarily silly or scary. These takes were reshaped until they felt true and complete, much like a collage or a sculpture. Shashidhar moved through different musical styles, not necessarily to prove her range, but to move away from flattening her ideas into singularity. She was joined by skilled friends (Caleb Buchanan, Timothy Angulo, Devin Daniels) as well as new collaborators (Mark Guiliana and Benny Bock), who helped flesh out ideas and share their perspectives. The record was created without a specific roadmap in mind, but was instead created in the room collaboratively, allowing everything that felt relevant on a given day to surface naturally.
Listening to A Foot on the Ground is intended to leave people feeling whole and satiated, akin to the feeling after indulging in a great meal. Sharada hopes the listener will “come away feeling like at least one aspect of me could be seen in them. I want it to excite someone into trying something new. If they listen a second or a third time, they get to see a new focal point and it sounds completely different. I want them to feel challenged but still comforted like there is a familiarity to these songs.”

SOFT ECHOES
2024
Los Angeles-based vocalist, composer, and producer Sharada Shashidhar has a deep awareness of the cosmos. There’s a distinct tug-of-war in her music, an understanding that scanning the heavens to answer existential queries isn’t quite enough; there are internal depths to plumb as well. Shashidhar’s first album, 2020’s Rahu, found her voice billowing out of smoky, post-beat-scene soundscapes, meditating on the collective unconscious and the energy exchange between all living things. Her newest work, Soft Echoes, is a bold step forward, eschewing her previous work’s hip-hop tilt for expansive compositions that blend jazz and Indian classical influences into a swirling, spiritual whole.

RAHU
2020
Rahu is the debut release by Sharada Shashidhar on Leaving Records. Shashidhar, a lifelong vocalist and musician, is currently pursuing a degree in jazz voice. The songs on Rahu were recorded over the last four years between Los Angeles and New York, in a constant collaborative exchange with rising producer and Stones Throw Records artist Jamael Dean.
The music of Rahu is arresting, an unforgettable introduction to Sharada's compelling voice and songwriting. Her elaborate harmonies and vocal creativity come together in brief yet powerful songs that explore universal themes of inner and outer exploration.

DUE SESSIONS (PT.1)
2025
Merging ambient soundscapes, jazz-inspired harmonies, and the blend of folk and electronic instrumentation, Two Point is the duo outfit by Los Angeles-based musicians Sharada Shashidhar and Caleb Buchanan. While their debut Bandcamp album, Duo Sessions (part 1), highlights their free, improvised approach, paired with a maverick use of live effect pedals, their compositional depth shines in through-composed songs, like “Ghostly”, their contribution to Leaving Records’ benefit compilation, Staying: Leaving Records Aid to Artists Impacted by The Los Angeles Wildfires.
